Lace and polka dots

Hola a tod@s!!!

Hello everyone!!! Fridaaaayyy at laaaaast!!! :D I have a very romantic look for you today. You know how I love this soft colors! I wanted to wear an "almost nude" color so I grabbed my Ciaté Mini Mani Month Calendar and took out Cookies and Cream. This one reminds me a lot of one of my faves Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? by OPI, they're almost identical only C&C is a tad lighter and OPI's is a whole lot better formula-wise and is also more opaque, this one is a bit thin. I used two coats.

I wore it alone for three days and then did some nail art of lace and polka dots using White On by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear...you know I suck at drawing in my nails so please, bear with me. It's not the best lace but you get the idea!

I wanted to soften the white a bit, so I applied a coat of Cotton Candy At Eiffel Tower by Catrice. This is one of those sheer polishes that are used for french manicure.

*Suspiros*
Usé Salmon & Garfunkel by Catrice.

*Sigh*...Doesn't it look cute?! *sigh again*...
Then I sent the pic to my friend Karla and she suggested I added bows. I thought, oh no, more drawing? But I did it. Again, forgive the messy bows! (did 'em with Salmon & Garfunkel by Catrice)

Aquí les comparto como hice el encaje:
In case you're absolutely clueless on how to do a lace pattern (like me), I did this:

Gracias por leer! Lindo fin de semana!

Leopardo dorado

Hi girls! Here is a mani I did a few weeks ago, I had left it behind because it is very simple, but I decided to post it for that very same reason!
This is just two coats of White On by Sally Hansen and then I painted some leopard print with Infinity Band also by Sally Hansen since my Essie Good as Gold decided to go and play hide and seek and I can't find it :(
On my ring finger of my left hand I have two coats of West End Wonderland by Butter London.
And that's it! Have a great day! :)

K is for Kimber...of course :)

Hey ladies! Kimber is the name of this awesome pink with gold shimmer polish but also is the name of the lovely lady who started this challenge and put together a great group of nail sisters! She's a devoted blogger, mom and wife :) Her blog is Kimber's Lacquer Korner and there you'll find a huge variety of swatches and most importantly to me, amazing nail art and a great person behind it all. Thanks to her and her challenges I have met even more incredibly nice ladies and she was the first person to ever leave me a comment! :) She holds a special place in my heart, so as a tribute to her, I chose this polish.

Kimber (the polish) has the great formula Zoya's have and it was opaque in two coats. I really loved the application and the smoothness of the finish.

I also did what were supposed to be flowers, but I'm not sure if it's clear enough. I tried to do something similar to the flowers by Tenshi No Hana, it's a french blog. I only know a little French, but it's enough to read a couple french blogs I follow. If you haven't visited this blog, you're missing out on an actual nail artist doing her own nails, don't let the language prevent you from doing so. I swear she draws the cutest flowers! .

I'm feeling lazy to list all the polishes I used, but you can find them in the tags! :P But if you're curious about anything just ask me.
See you soon and thanks for reading! xoxo

Clowning Around in Candyland

Hiya ladies!!! How are you today? It's been a very emotional day for me, my baby entered day care today and I just couldn't help crying...but well let's get to the manicure!

When I saw Jindie Nails' Candyland on Katherine's post I was in awe!!! Such a pretty polish!!!! but when I read her review about it, I didn't feel like buying it. And even looking at the bottle shots you can see how the glitters are at the bottom so I was like 'No, no that looks like a never ending fishing tale'.

But then I see that my fave indie polish brand (Lush Lacquer) is releasing a whole new collection of Neon Glitter Polishes!!!!......whoa!! you HAVE TO check them out!!! I personally fell in love with Clowning Around because of the clear base, that means you can layer it over any color. The bad news? I set a personal goal not to buy any polishes this month...and I'm trying to prove myself and my husband that I can do it!!! so I will have to wait a while to get it.

However.....they're having a giveaway!! Yes, here's some hope for me (and you, too)! All you have to do is spread the word about their Neon Collection and report it on their Facebook page over here! They also have affordable promos of their mini bottles that include the Neon Collection, so there's really no excuse (unless you're on a no-buy like me!). You can read a full review on the collection at Crystal's Crazy Combos.

But since I don't know if I'll win or not and I desperately wanted to sport a similar look, I tried to do this: I painted on a coat of White On by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear and on top of it I made large dots with all the neon colors shown and listed below:

From left to right: Marshmallow- Essie, Neon Orange, Neon Lime, TLC, Neon Amethyst, Neon Pink and Neon Aqua all by Kleancolor.

This is how it looked:

To make the neons look softer like they do on Candyland and Clowning Around, I applied two coats of Essie's Marshmallow, a white jelly:

I'm pretty pleased with the results, I do think I made a little too many large dots, but... you see? that's why Clowning Around would've looked so much better! (are you reading this hubby?...LOL!)

So what do you think? ...That's gonna be it for me today, have a wonderful weekend and month!!

Hey lovelies!! Today's challenge is Tribal print. I didn't know what exactly to do with this one and I didn't have a lot of time to do research so I just did the first thing that popped to my head! I had bought in advance a black nail polish pen that came sooo handy for this, I really don't know if it had been so easy to do without it.

Wow!

Colores Usados:
Sunshine Sparkle- Revlon
165- Bissú
1011 Mamey- Lady Olé
White On- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear

¡¡¡VIVA MEXICO!!!-Day 28 INSPIRED BY A FLAG

What? What? Day 28? Haha, I'll explain: tomorrow is Mexico's independence day, but the celebrations begin tonight at midnight so I had to be prepared with my nails! And I remembered that further along on the challenge we have this topic so I will get a little bit ahead on this one.

This is Mexico's flag:

So I took the colors and came up with this:

The colors I used were:
-White On- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-White Cap- China Glaze
-Cherry Red- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-Bright Green- L.A. Colors Art Deco
I first painted my nails white and then put a coat of White Cap which is a beautiful gold shimmer. Then I painted my tips diagonally with Cherry Red and finally with bright Green. At the end I put golden striping tape I got at Sally Beauty Supply. I came up with this design because I didn't want to do the flag so literal.

Then I got a little crazy and with an Ultra Fine Tipped Sharpie wrote ¡¡¡Viva Mexico!!! on my ring fingernail!

Have a great weekend!!^^

31 DAY CHALLENGE Day 9: RAINBOW NAILS :) ...so sweet!!! / UÑAS DE ARCOIRIS

Hey girls! Today's menu: Rainbow Nails. I must admit I was not excited about this challenge and I postponed it as much as I could because I was thinking: rainbow? that reminds me of me in kindergarden carrying around my Rainbow Brite doll!-don't get me wrong I loved her so much, but this week I had to go to take care of some affairs and I kept thinking: the people at the offices are going to look at me like: what's with this lady and her toddler nails?!...
Aww!! Remember??

So I tried to think of a way in which I would enjoy them and I came up with the spun sugar nails!!! And now I love the way they look!!!^^

Here is the tutorial I watched:

Based on that, what I did was this:

I first put all the drops of all the colors at the same time on the surface (a yoghurt cap) and waited about 5 minutes for them to dry and become "stringy". I used about 4 large drops of every color on each hand.
The colors I used were:
-Base color: White On- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-Noite Quente- Maybelline Colorama
-165-Bissú
-Green with Envy -Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear
-Sunshine Sparkle- Revlon
-Snappy Sorbet- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
-Cherry Red- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear

I know, I know. The rainbow should have 7 colors but I wanted to do only the colors we have done in the challenge :)

I didn't go nail by nail but color by color. Which means I did all the purple on the 5 nails of a hand, and then blue, and so on -to save time AND polish!-

When I finished I felt like if I didn't apply a topcoat it would be too vulnerable and I loved this mani so much I wanted to protect it. But I must say it is hard to apply a topcoat on this spun nails!!! And in the end I regretted it because it totally takes away the cool 3D effect the chubby strings had (shown below). Now they just look like plain lines :(

I also would like to say that this dries fast! I thought it would take forever but no, even before I applied my topcoat it was already superdry to the point that I could squash the little clumps and nothing happened o.O
It took me overall about two hours, but I had my baby running around and even had to change a diaper! Lol!!

Anyhow I love it!

I know, I stole some of my baby's toys for the pics! ^^

31 Day Challenge Day 7: BLACK & WHITE

Hey ladies!!! TGIF right?? :) so today we're doing the classic combo of black and white and I think maybe because of the mimes in their black and white striped shirts it reminds me of France.

When I saw this post I definitely fell in love with it and I took this theme as an opportunity to finally try it. I was a bit scared that it wouldn't turn out very well because white has always been a pain in the back to apply for me. This formula wasn't the exception. I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear White On. I had to apply it in 3 fast streaks. I did two coats and then the dotting with Circuits from L.A. Girl Color Craze and 2 different sized dotting tools. For the accent nails I used the colors the other way around.

Finally don't forget to check my partners so you can get tons of ideas of black and white manis!!
