Let's Go Crazy with Le Invader!

Happy Saturday!!! Just a quickie post today cause I had to show you another glitter by Cirque! This one is Le Invader, described as 'a rainbow confetti than consists of square-shaped glitter' in a clear base. 

 

I started with one, yes ONE coat of Love Affair by Kleancolor (funny, this one doesn't smell as bad as other Kleancolors) this one goes on nicely.

 

Hola, Feliz sábado!! :) Un post de rapidito hoy porque les quería mostrar este otro glitter de Cirque! Se llama Le Invader, descrito como 'un arcoíris de confeti que consiste en glitter cuadrado' en una base transparente.

 

Comencé con una..sí, UNA capa de Love Affair de Kleancolor que se aplica muy fácilmente y curiosamente no huele fuerte como la mayoría de los Kleancolor.

Then added a layer of Le Invader by Cirque. The formula is loaded with glitter so it is a bit clumpy and hard to spread at times, (look at my middle and index fingers) but I love the jewel tones it has!

 

Después, agregué una capa de Le Invader de Cirque. Debido a que esta cargadísimo de glitter, tienden a hacerse cúmulos que provocan que sea difícil esparcir los glitters, por ejemplo vean mis dedos medio e índice. Pero los colores que tiene están super padres.

Aaand finally I added a coat of Creative Fantasy by China Glaze which is a purple 'crelly' to create a glitter sandwich! I don't know why the bottle looks so blue on these pics, it really is purple.

 

Y finalmente, una capa de Creative Fantasy de China Glaze que es un crelly morado (o sea mitad jelly (el término se refiere a que es transparente como la gelatina) y mitad cremoso (o sea que logra volverse opaco y es algo.... cremoso! jaja) Use este para crear un jelly sándwich.

No sé porque se ve la botella tan azul en estas fotos, cuando en verdad es morado!

What do you think? Do you like it? I did!! and I even think it looks similar to Deborah Lippmann's Let's Go Crazy...only that if I wanted to really imitate Let's Go Crazy I should've used It's Complicated by Pure Ice which is a dupe of Happy Birthday by DL as well.

 

¿Qué opinan? ¿Les gustó? a mí si me gusto mucho! Y pensándolo fíjense que se parece un poco a Let's Go Crazy de Deborah Lippmann. Sólo que para que quedara más parecido debí usar It's Complicated de Pure Ice, que a su vez es una imitación de Happy Birthday de DL!

X is for XX

Hi hons!! Letter X today! We're so close to the end!!!...okay, *sigh*...so I know this letter is hard because there are hardly any polish brands, names or nail art techniques that start with an X (the rules of the ABC challenge) but I had this one under my sleeve from the very beginning...Cirque's XX. I believe that it stands for twenty as in the roman numbers, because it supposedly contains twenty different types of glitter. Anyhow, this is a real stunner. 

I had read many reviews about how great it was before buying it but I think the best description was "it looks like multi-colored crushed crystals on your nails" or something like that...of course I don't remember where I read that! but yep, that's what it looks like, it sparkles like crazy.

 

Hola muñecas! Ya estamos en la letra X en el reto ABC! Taaaann cerca del final!!!!...bueno, este reto es difícil porque casi no hay marcas, nombres de esmaltes o técnicas de nail art que empiezen con X pero yo desde el principio ya tenía a este esmalte bajo la manga así que nunca me angustié :P. 

Se llama XX y es de la marca neoyorkina independiente Cirque. El nombre, XX creo que hace referencia a lo números romanos, al numero veinte, porque este esmalte dice contener veinte tipos diferentes de Glitter y es divino!

Leí muchas reseñas de este esmalte y no recuerdo donde fue que lo describían como "pedazos de cristales multi color molidos sobre las uñas" y viéndolo en la vida real creo que esa descripción se acerca mucho  la realidad.

 

 

For this look, I did my first ombré mani! You know, the one in which you use different shades of the same color family...and I chose green. And over these lovely colors, I added one layer of XX...pure beauty!

 

En este look hice mi primer manicure ombré! Ya saben, esa técnica en la que se usan varios tonos de una misma familia de color, y elegí el verde. Después solo agregué una capa de XX.

Finally, below it is mattified. It's not very evident, but OMG look at that index finger! I think I loved it the most over Atomic!

 

Y...esta es mi mano derecha, hice lo mismo pero el orden en que coloqué los esmaltes es al revés. Me gustó mucho y disculpen tantas fotos, es solo que es taaaan hermoso!!

Y finalmente acá abajo se los muestro matificado. Casi no se nota, pero miren el dedo índice!! Creo que mi favorito es como se ve sobre Atomic.

Lullaby *

Hi everybody!! I hope you had a nice monday, and if you didn't, by looking at these pictures you should smile ;) I received last week my order from Cirque (lightning speed shipping!) with this beauty I'm going to show you now called Lullaby. It's gotta be the sweetest glitter combo! Look at it!!

Hola a tod@s!!! Espero que hayan tenido un buen lunes y si no, al menos espero sacarles una sonrisa con estas fotos. La semana pasada recibí mi pedido de Cirque (rapidísimo!, semana y media) con esta belleza que estoy por mostrarles llamada Lullaby (traducción: canción de cuna). Es un glitter muy dulce, mírenlo! 

 

 

 

Cirque is one of my favorite indie brands.  I love everything about it. The design and the quality behind it is amazing. I can't believe that this is the first time I feature it on the blog. Don't know why I waited so long!!

Cirque es también una de mis marcas independientes favoritas. La calidad y el diseño en ella son impresionantes. No puedo creer que es la primera vez que la presento en el blog, no se por qué tarde tanto!

According to Annie, the founder of Cirque, Lullaby is a rainbow confetti made with satin-finished glitter in soft pastel colors. I would add "of different shapes and sizes."

It sort of reminds me of the way XX looks when put in a jelly sandwich. I found it easy to apply as it delivers a good amount of glitter on each brush stroke. I used one dabbed coat of it over two coats of China Glaze's Pelican Grey which is a very light grey. Despite it being a chunky glitter, the pieces are quite thin and don't require several layers of top coat to seal in. In fact I only used one of Seche Vite.

De acuerdo con Annie la fundadora de Cirque, Lullaby es un arco iris de confetti hecho con glitter de acabado satinado en colores pastel. Yo solo le agregaría "en distintos tamaños y formas".
Me recuerda un poco a como se ve XX también de esta marca cuando se pone en un jelly sándwich. Fue fácil de aplicar ya que cada brochazo contiene una buena cantidad de glitter. Yo lo apliqué en forma diagonal dando toquecitos con la brocha. Mi color de base es Pelican Grey de China Glaze que es un gris bajito. A pesar de que es un glitter de formas toscas, son muy delgados y no requiere varias capas de top coat para encapsularlo. De hecho yo solo aplique una de Seche Vite.
 

 

 

It was a bit hard to photograph cause I kept getting a lot of glare but then I found a better angle and I think most of the pics show Lullaby pretty close to what it looks like in real life. I believe this one could be an office-approved glitter because of its softness ;)

Fue un poquito difícil de fotografiar porque las fotos salían con mucho reflejo de la luz, pero creo que encontré un buen ángulo para mostrarlo lo más parecido posible a como se ve en persona. Creo que este glitter se puede llevar hasta al trabajo por lo delicadito que es ;)

Peachy's got it!

Hi girls!!! I have been longing for a peach toned mani for months now! Between the challenges and everything else I never seemed to find the time...until now. I apologize for not taking pictures while I did these to make a pictorial.

 

I did something quirky on every nail so I'll go finger by finger, okay?...am I sounding like a teacher now? hahaha....

 

Index:

Two coats of Revlon's Brilliant Strength in Provoke and sponged tips with West End Wonderland by Butter London.

 

Medium:

Two coats of Revlon's Brilliant Strength in Provoke, then I just did one brush stroke in the middle with Salmon and Garfunkel by Catrice. After that, I placed three studs from this Born Pretty Store studs wheel and used nail glue to make sure they stayed on longer.

 

Ring finger:

This one's tricky. I started off with two coats of Salmon and Garfunkel by Catrice, then I did a "V" shaped tip, a coat of Seche Vite, and when that was dry I used tape to help me form the gold triangle in the middle with Infinity Band by Sally Hansen. This was inspired by this design from Camille @Pshiiit, my idol and the one to blame for the existence of this blog. <3

 

Pinky:

Two coats of Silk by Petals Beauty Concept and then I formed a V tip overlapping Provoke and Infinity Band.

 

Thumb: (not very visible on the pics)

Two coats of Salmon and Garfunkel and V tip featuring Provoke and Silk overlapped.

 

..and that's that.

Hola, hola chicas! como están? Hoy les traigo un mani de tonos durazno al que ya le traía muchas ganas, pero entre el reto y todo lo demás no me había dado tiempo, hasta ahora. La verdad estaba tan emocionada haciéndolo que olvide tomar fotos para hacer el pictorial.

 

Como hice cositas diferentes en cada uña, haré una breve explicación de cada una,  de acuerdo?

 

Indice:

Dos capas de Provoke de Revlon Brilliant Strength y puntas con glitter degradado con West End Wonderland de Butter London.

 

Medio:

Dos capas de Provoke y un brochazo en medio de Salmon and Garfunkel de Catrice. Después coloqué con pegamento para uñas unos studs incluidos en esta rueda de Born Pretty Store.

 

Anular:

Este es el más complicadito. Dos capas de Salmon and Garfunkel, después hice una punta en "V" con Provoke y aplique una capa de Seche Vite. Ya que secó, me ayude de cinta mágica para formar el triángulo dorado con Infinity Band de Sally Hansen. Este diseño fue inspirado por este otro de Camille @Pshiiit, mi ídolo y la culpable de que este blog exista! <3

 

Meñique:

Dos capas de Silk de Petals Beauty Concept y una punta en V con Provoke e Infinity Band.

 

Pulgar: (casi no se ve en las fotos)

Dos capas de Salmon and Garfunkel y punta en V con Provoke y Silk.

 

...y eso es todo.

W is for When Monkeys Fly!

Hey guys! Meet Aurelia, she's the monkey attached to one of my Kipling bags who wanted to come and pose with OPI's When Monkeys Fly!

 

Hola chicas!! Les presento a Aurelia, es una changuita que venía junto con una de mis bolsas Kipling y quiso venir a posar con When Monkey's Fly! de OPI.

 

<3 I chose to use this glitter bomb for this week's ABC Challenge letter W. This polish has gotten so many negative comments regarding the curling of the XL glitters, but really it is minimum and doesn't affect the manicure in any way. It's more of an optical illusion. I believe that some glitters are slightly curved, and being so reflective, the curling looks really intense when it really isn't that bad at all... I am loving it so much right now!

 

<3 Decidí usar esta bomba de glitter para el reto de esta semana, la letra W del reto ABC. Yo estoy encantada con este esmalte pero sé que ha tenido muchos malos comentarios por la forma en que se curvean los glitters extra grandes, pero parece ser más una ilusión óptica que algo real porque en verdad que no afecta en nada la aplicación. Creo que algunos glitters sí están algo curveados y como reflejan mucho la luz, pareciera que están MUY curveados cuando en realidad no es casi nada. Yo estoy encantada con este esmalte!

 

 



For this manicure I applied two coats of OPI's Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? as the base color, then one coat of Seche Vite. After that was dry, I placed the Scotch tape diagonally dividing the nail in half . On the upper part I put on a coat of Swing Baby by China Glaze, took off the tape, and on top of that two coats of When Monkeys Fly! sealing it all in with another coat of Seche Vite.

Here's a tip for all tape manis: stick the piece of tape on the skin of your hands first and remove a couple times so that it doesn't stick so hard on your nails.

 

En esta ocasión use dos capas de Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? de OPI también como color base y le puse una capa de Seche Vite para acelerar el secado. Cuando ya estaba seco, puse cinta mágica de forma diagonal dividiendo la uña a la mitad. En la mitad de arriba apliqué una capa de Swing Baby de China Glaze, retire la cinta y aplique dos capas de When Monkeys Fly! de OPI, sellando todo con otra capa de Seche Vite.

Y un pequeño tip cuando usen cinta mágica en sus manis: Pega y despega el pedazo de cinta sobre el dorso de tu mano un par de veces para que no se pegue tanto en tu uña.

I got so many compliments wearing this mani! I suppose because of the way it sparkles. Some people even thought that I had rhinestones on. And since I'm currently loving light colors, I loved this!

Este mani si me lo chulearon mucho, supongo que fue por la manera en que brilla. Algunas personas incluso pensaron que traía piedritas como las que les ponen a las uñas postizas. Y como yo ando fascinada con los tonos claritos, debo admitir que también me encantó!

Lights of Emerald City

 

 

 

Hey lovely girls! Today I'm sharing with you Lights of Emerald City by OPI from the recent collection inspired by the movie Oz The Great and Powerful. I paired it with three coats of China Glaze's Oxygen.  This is one of the softest hues I've worn in months! I missed my neutrals!

Oxygen is a pink leaning off-white that I totally love!

 

Hola adorables chicas! El día de hoy les comparto a Lights of Emerald City, uno de los preciosos glitters de la colección de OPI inspirada en la película Oz The Great and Powerful. Lo combine con tres capas de Oxygen de China Glaze.

Oxygen es un rosa-blanquecino divino! Me encanta! Hacía ya meses que no usaba uno de estos tonos bajitos que me encantan, lo extrañaba!

 

 

Lights of Emerald City is pure chunky square glitter both white (large) and iridescent (medium) suspended in a clear base. It's not as dense as I thought so I decided to apply it with a sponge to avoid applying several coats to get out this amount of glitters! I applied them on the tips only. Since it is quite chunky and the squares' edges can be a bit sharp, I put on two coats of Seche Vite.

 

Lights of Emerald City es puro glitter cuadrado de dos tamaños. Los más grandes son blancos y los medianos son iridiscentes, suspendidos en una base transparente. Pareciera que están muy saturados pero no tanto, así que decidí aplicarlos solo en las puntas con una esponja para así lograr mayor cantidad de glitters en una sola pasada y evitarme aplicar varias capas jeje!

Es un glitter muy tosco y las esquinas de los cuadraditos podrían resultar rasposas al tacto así que aplique dos capas de Seche Vite para que quedaran bien selladitos.

 

 

I enjoyed so much wearing this office-friendly manicure that it stayed on for four long days!

V is for Valerie

Hello girls! Wednesday once again so it's challenge time! This week: letter V, for Valerie by Zoya, an untried. I gotta say as lovely as this shade is, it was also a bit disappointing. This one was on my wish list for a long time and when I saw the bottle I was like 'ohh yeah...georgeousness!!!' ...But, not so much on the nails. First of all it looks a lot darker and the golden glass fleck effect is not very visible at all. I think it's a burgundy that looks more like a dark red on the bottle, and it looks a lot more purple on the nails. Am I crazy?

 

Hola chicas! Es miércoles otra vez y eso significa día de reto! Hoy toca la V de Valerie de Zoya. Es la primera vez que uso este esmalte que desee por tanto tiempo y lamento decir que me decepcionó un poco. Al ver la botella es casi imposible no quedar boquiabierto ante semejante belleza, pero en la uñas el dorado casi no se ve. Diría que es un color vino, que en la botella tiende a lucir más rojo y en la uña luce más morado.  ¿O será que no veo bien?

 

Anyways, the formula is Zoya perfection, not too thin, not too thick, just perfect! It applied evenly in two coats and it's opaque enough to be a one coater. It's not as glossy, so it looks better with topcoat on. I'd also recommend to wrap your tips when wearing this one because otherwise it shows wear in a matter of hours. I stared at my nails looking for the gold speckles but they were nowhere to be found outside of the bottle.

La formula es la clásica perfección de Zoya. Ni muy delgada, ni muy espesa y es lo suficientemente opaca como para aplicarse en una capa, aunque yo aplique dos. El acabado no es del todo brilloso así que le cae muy bien una capa de top coat. También recomendaría que pintaran bien las puntas al final porque tienden a desgastarse en cuestión de horas.

Busqué y busqué los reflejos dorados en distintos ángulos e iluminaciones pero nunca aparecieron :(
