Razzle Me Dazzle Me

Hello nailistas!! This time I have Razzle Me Dazzle Me to show you. It's from the Glitz Bitz 'n Pieces collection by China Glaze. This one has been around for a few months but I just got it last sunday. When this collection first came out I decided to pass on it because I just didn't feel attracted to black glitter back then. But after using Glitter Girl by Lush Lacquer I started liking it.

 

Razzle Me Dazzle Me is basically black glitter in several shapes and sizes combined with very pale pink hexagonal and micro glitter in a clear base. On these pics I'm wearing two coats of Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? by OPI and then only one coat of Razzle Me Dazzle Me. Like any polish of this kind, you do have to dabble a bit to place the glitters where you want them but I didn't expect it to deliver so much glitter in just one coat! I think it's great! :)

 

But of course, us nailistas can't leave anything alone so I wanted to play with this one.

And then a glitter sandwich with Cotton Candy At Eiffel Tower by Catrice (Isn't that the best name ever?!!) Only one coat over it all. On this pic below you can see the pink in the glitters a little better.

Hola chicas!!! Hoy tengo Razzle Me Dazzle Me para mostrarles. Este esmalte salió ya desde diciembre del año pasado como parte de la colección Glitz Bitz 'N Pieces de China Glaze. Los esmaltes de esta colección son todos basados en el glitter negro, tanto hexagonal, micro y de barra suspendidos en una base transparente. Y nada más varían los colores con los que los combinaron: negro con azul, negro con rosa, negro con verde, etc.

En su momento, yo no quise comprar ninguno (una decisión difícil porque aquí si no te lo llevas, seguro cuando regreses ya no hay) porque no me llamaba para nada la atención el glitter negro. Después llego febrero y con él mi adorado Glitter Girl de Lush Lacquer que contiene muchas partículas negras y la verdad me gustó. Pero ya era demasiado tarde.

 

Hasta el domingo pasado! Sorpresa, sorpresa volvieron a resurtir esta colección y elegí este que es glitter negro con rosa muy pálido y me encantó. Me gusta porque ayuda a hacer manicures chocochip jaja! ....oooo de huevos de avestruz, pero eso no suena muy bien! ;)

Para este mani, usé una capa de Nail Envy de OPI como base, dos capas de Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? de OPI y una capa de Razzle Me Dazzle Me de China Glaze. Finalizando con una capa de Seche Vite.

 

Y por supuesto que como no puedo dejar nada en paz, me puse a jugar un poco.

Aquí se los muestro matificado:

Un glitter sándwich también ¿por qué no? con Cotton Candy At Eiffel Tower de Catrice, el nombre más dulce que un esmalte puede tener!

R is for Revlon

Hello ladies! We're up to letter R at the ABC challenge from Kimber's Lacquer Korner, can't believe we only have eight more letters to go! I got the flu last week and I felt so sleepy and sick that I just couldn't stand the smell of nail polish and slept all my free time, so I spent all week with naked nails which is never good for me... every time I do that, the corners of my tips start splitting and so, I had to file them down and now I have shorter nails.

 

This time I chose one of my favorite brands: Revlon. This brand has always been very accesible here, you can buy Revlon almost everywhere. It offers great quality, innovative colors and the prices are reasonable (even a little bit lower than in the US!)

 

I picked a dreamy jelly sandwich in a bottle: Girly. And since it is quite sheer, I used my favorite pink: Sugar Glaze also from Revlon from the Scented line as a basecoat. I love it so much and I must mention that it is quite similar to OPI's Pink Friday. I should do a comparison in the future so you can see.

Then I did some freehanded lines with Love Affair by Kleancolor a dark purple to form a chevron tip.

On my right hand I did some different nails. On my ring finger, I used Revlon's Rich Raspberry as a base for Girly and on my index I placed a few hexagonal loose glitters in pale pink.

 

Yesterday was Mother's Day in the US and we celebrated it last friday here in Mexico so I hope all the mothers had a nice day :)  I love that on that day mother's hard work is acknowledged. :D

Hola! Les presento la letra R del reto ABC de Kimber's Lacquer Korner! Ya solo nos quedan ocho letras wow! La semana pasada me resfrié y la verdad me sentía muy mal y no soportaba el olor del esmalte así que pasé toda la semana sin pintarme las uñas lo cual no es bueno para mí porque siempre que hago esto las esquinas de la punta de las uñas se empiezan a abrir y eso me forza a limarlas y perder largo. Asi que ahora están mas cortitas.

 

Esta vez elegí una de mis marcas preferidas, Revlon. Esta marca se puede conseguir fácilmente en Mexico y siempre tienen colores únicos y modernos a un precio razonable y la calidad es (casi siempre) excelente.

Tiene ya como dos meses que trajeron todas las novedades como los dúos Moon Candy y Nail Art Expressionist, la línea Brilliant Strength y muchos nuevos tonos incluyendo glitters como este: Girly.

 

 

 



Girly es, como su nombre lo dice, un esmalte muy femenino con glitters morados, magentas, lilas y rosa pálido en distintos tamaños en una base jelly rosa. Esto significa que es muy transparente por lo que elegí otro de mis Revlons preferidos: Sugar Glaze de la línea perfumada para usar debajo, y para mí es el rosa perfecto.

Inicié como siempre con una capa de Nail Envy de OPI, después dos capas de Sugar Glaze, dos de Girly, y pinte unas líneas formando un chevron con Love Affair de Kleancolor, topcoat y listo!

 

En mi mano derecha hice una variación. En el dedo anular apliqué Rich Raspberry de Revlon como base en lugar de Sugar Glaze y en el dedo índice pegué unos glitters hexagonales de Born Pretty Store.

Espero que les haya gustado. A mi me gustó mucho la combinación de colores y definitivamente Girly es un esmalte divino!!!

Q is for Quilted Nails

Hello nailistas!! This post is for the letter Q challenge of the ABC Challenge from Kimber's Lacquer Korner. I don't know if you've ever paid attention to the fact that there are very few polish's names that start with this particular letter. At least in my collection! So I just couldn't think of anything else to do but Quilted Nails!! ...well I also thought of 'quick' and 'quiet' but that didn't make much sense hahaha!

 

So, I have done quilted nails before using the striping tape technique but when I saw this post by my fellow mexican blogger Pamela I was in awe...this really looked 'quilted'!! and I just loved the matte finish, it made it look like the frosting of a cake :)

That's why this time I decided to follow her tutorial and I succeeded easily in my opinion. The only thing that bothered me was that those microbeads fell off waaaay too easily. I guess I HAVE TO buy nail glue and see if they hold on a little better.

 

For this mani I used Essie's Neo Whimsical and Chanel Mat Top Coat. The microbeads I bought them at a craft store.

Hola Nailistas! Esta vez les presento el reto de la letra Q del reto ABC de Kimber's Lacquer Korner. No sé si lo han notado pero muy pocos esmaltes tienen un nombre que comience con esta letra y ciertamente yo no tengo ninguno en mi colección. Así que este reto me dio unos cuantos dolores de cabeza hasta que decidi hacer las uñas acolchadas o en inglés 'quilted'.

 

Yo ya había probado esta técnica pero lo había hecho con striping tape. Cuando vi este post de mi  amiga bloguera mexicana Pamela, quede anonadada! Me encantó, me fascinó, lo amé! Me gustó muchísimo el efecto mate sobre lo acolchado, hasta se me hizo que parecía el merengue de fondant de un pastel. Que por cierto, Pam si lees esto, ¿que esmalte de Essie usaste en ese post? Me encantó el tono!

 

Y bueno pues que de tanta fascinación quise imitar su técnica y aquí esta el resultado. En general me parecío sencillo de hacer lo único que me molestó es lo rápido que se caen las microperlas, creo que DEBO comprar pegamento para uñas a ver si así durán más.

 

En estas fotos usé Neo Whimsical de Essie y el Top Coat Mate de Chanel. Las microperlas las conseguí en una tiendita de manualidades.

Leopardo dorado

Hi girls! Here is a mani I did a few weeks ago, I had left it behind because it is very simple, but I decided to post it for that very same reason! 

This is just two coats of White On by Sally Hansen and then I painted some leopard print with Infinity Band also by Sally Hansen since my Essie Good as Gold decided to go and play hide and seek and I can't find it :( 

On my ring finger of my left hand I have two coats of West End Wonderland by Butter London.

Hola chicas como les va? Este look que les presento hoy lo hice ya hace varias semanas. Lo había dejado en el olvido porque me pareció muy simple pero finalmente decidí publicarlo por esa misma razón! 

Son solo dos capas de White On de Sally Hansen y dibuje unas manchitas de leopardo con Infinity Band de Sally Hansen ya que mi Good as Gold de Essie decidió esconderse y no lo puedo encontrar :(

En mi accent nail de la mano izquierda tengo dos capas de West End Wonderland de Butter London.

Y eso es todo! Que tengan un lindo día!!

Cheshire, by CrowsToes

Hello nailistas! Happy Sunday! Today I'm going to show you a very special polish. You know why? Because I won it! Unbelievable but true. A couple months ago Lariesa from Me, Myself and Polish hosted a giveaway because she achieved to get 100 GFC followers...of course now she has doubled that amount (Congrats!), that's how late this post is :\

I ended up winning the first prize a $25 gift certificate from Llarowe!!! (it was going to be from Etsy, but Lariesa had some issues and we agreed to change it) Of course I couldn't wait to start shopping, so I browsed all over the store and picked two gorgeous babies (like you could pick an ugly polish at Llarowe! ha!)

This is the first one, Cheshire by CrowsToes. It's a clear based purple glitter bomb as you can see! I chose to layer it over a deep blue base, Power Dressing by Ciaté.

 

 

As best described by the creator:

 

I have always loved the cheshire cat. A big chunky feline with that cryptic half crazed look in his bright yellow eyes coupled with a huge teethy grin AND purple and magenta stripes? I mean., how could anyone NOT love a cat like that???

Cheshire is a combination of purple, magenta, & chartreuse glitters in a clear base, combined with a little crazy cat magic just for good measure. :)

 

What do you think? Don't you just love it?! I adored it. It shines and sparkles so so much! Can you see the little aqua glitters? It has so much depth!...And this is just one coat. So if you wanted to apply it on its own you totally could. And I also love the Cheshire Cat :)

Hola nailistas! Feliz domingo! Hoy les presento un esmalte muy especial. Saben por qué? Porque me lo gané! Increíble, es la primera vez que me gano algo que disfruto jijiji. Hace un par de meses Lariesa del blog Me, Myself and Polish tuvo un sorteo celebrando haber llegado a 100 seguidores de Google Friend Connect...claro que ya hasta duplicó esa cantidad...así de atrasado está este post!

 

Bueno pues tuve la super suerte de ganar el primer premio: un certificado de regalo de $25 dólares en Llarowe (originalmente era de Etsy pero ella tuvo unos cuantos problemitas y decidimos cambiarlo). Por supuesto que no pude esperar para usarlo y casi inmediatamente hice un pedido. Este es el primero que elegí: Cheshire de CrowsToes.

 

 

Aquí les dejo la descripción de Cheshire según su creador:

 

Siempre he amado al gato Cheshire. Un gran felino regordete con esa mirada extraña un tanto loca en sus brillantes ojos amarillos junto con una sonrisa de enormes dientes Y rayas moradas y magentas? Digo, como podría alguien NO amar un gato así???

Cheshire es una combinación de glitters morados, magenta y dorados en una base transparente, combinados con un poco de magia de gato loco para equilibrar todo :)

 

 

Qué les parece? A poco no les encanta? Brilla muchísimo y los diferentes glitters que contiene de distintos tamaños y colores le dan muchísima profundidad. Yo lo apliqué sobre Power Dressing de Ciaté un azul profundo, se muestra en la foto de abajo. Pero si lo quisieras usar solo también se puede ya que esta super cargado de brillos, yo apliqué solo UNA capa!

El otro esmalte que elegí se los mostraré en otro post! Solo les puedo adelantar que es un duplicado de un esmalte muy popular en internet y que no esta disponible en México...

P is for Palm Trees

Hello everybody!!! Aaahhh at last my life has calmed down and hopefully now I can do better nail art! For this letter P challenge (can you believe it? P already) I felt inspired by the beautiful palm trees at sunset and tried to create a similar look doing a gradient. I know it's not the name of a polish or brand, but I really wanted to do these! I hope it counts as 'nail art name'. :D

Let's see how it turned out:

I feel like I should've used brighter colors, but I liked the smoothness of the gradient. I hope you do too. Also please forgive the crappy palm trees!

The colors I used are listed below from lighter to darker:

Silk- Petals Beauty Concept

Salmon & Garfunkel- Catrice

Pink Friday- OPI

Secret Peri-Winkle- China Glaze

I first applied one coat of Silk, and then proceeded to sponge the rest of the colors about three times per nail. Finished off with two coats of Seche Vite.

P de Palmeras!

Hola a tod@s! Como les va? Para mi afortunadamente ya esta todo tranquilo y espero poder hacer más diseños y más bonitos próximamente!

Increíble como vuela el tiempo y ya estamos en la letra P del reto ABC de Kimber's Lacquer Korner. Para este reto me sentí inspirada por una imagen de palmeras al atardecer e intente recrear la escena en mis uñas.

Los colores que usé son los siguientes en orden de más claro a más oscuro:

Silk- Petals Beauty Concept

Salmon & Garfunkel- Catrice

Pink Friday- OPI

Secret Peri-Winkle- China Glaze

Para lograr este look comencé con una capa de Silk, y después proseguí con el degradado. Esta vez use una técnica diferente.

1. Sobre una bolsa de plástico pinta las líneas de cada color.

2. Con un palillo mezcla los colores en las orillas haciendo circulitos donde termina un color e inicia otro.

3. Humedece una esponja de maquillaje y presiónala contra la pintura en la bolsa.

 

 

4. Aplica la esponja sobre tu uña y muévela ligeramente hacia arriba y hacia abajo para que se mezclen bien los colores.

Tip: No uses más de 4-6 veces el mismo pedazo de esponja porque empezara a desprender pedacitos que se quedarán pegados a tu uña. Ve girando la esponja y pinta en un lugar diferente.

5. Repite varias veces estos pasos hasta lograr la saturación de color que desees.

6. El acabado será mate así que aplica unas dos capas de brillo.

Fácil no? Toma tiempo, pero no es difícil y los resultados te encantarán!

Las palmeras las hice con una pluma de esmalte pero no me gustaron mucho, jeje...nos vemos pronto!

N is for NYX & O is for OPI

Well hello nailistas!!!! This is a double themed post but it wasn't meant to be so, but when I found the convenience in it (that I could catch up with the ABC challenge at last!) I said well whatever! I feel a little like I'm cheating tho... D:.

I really loved this manicure and it's funny cause I was so reluctant to wear the "textured" polishes...These babies have been sitting in my stash for 3 to 4 months!!! I just couldn't wrap my head around not wearing a topcoat. I love topcoat. I think it smooths out any little application mistakes and definitely makes a mani last longer. But so far my mani has survived -almost- intact. Just some tip wear on index and middle finger on my right hand, the rest are OK.

Another fear I had was that they might feel too rough, but to my surprise they're incredibly smooth.

 

For this mani, I did different designs on my left and right hand and I really liked both. I can't choose a favorite.  I started with my beloved basecoat Nail Envy by OPI which continues to amaze me by how strong it's made my nails. Then I applied one-two coats (depending if I messed up or not) of No Place Like Chrome by Essie. When that was totally dry I cut pieces of scotch tape to help me get straight lines to form the triangles in the middle. And the edges whether up or down, right or left, I did by hand with the polish brush, so I had to clean up more tan usual.

It took some time, but I'm so enjoying wearing this mani!

The textured polishes I used are:

NYX- Zoya Pixie Dust
Can't Let Go- OPI Liquid Sand
Get Your Number- OPI Liquid Sand

Hola chicas y bienvenidas a este post con doble reto! Como ya sabrán ando un poco atrasada y sin querer aquí maté dos pájaros de un tiro. Sabía que iba a usar NYX de Zoya para la "N", pero después se me ocurrió combinarlo con Can't Let Go (el morado) de OPI y pues ya cuando lo estaba sacando vi Get Your Number (azul) y se me ocurrió esto!

 

Comenzé con mi basecoat preferido Nail Envy de OPI que continúa sorprendiéndome de como ha fortalecido mis uñas!. Y ahí les va un tip: en México para conseguir OPI debes ir a las estéticas, atenerte a lo que haya y ser víctima del precio que se les ocurra ponerles, en mi caso he comprado por muy baratos $170 y lo más caro $240 por botella!!...hasta que descubrí esta belleza: Beauty Corner!!! Esta tienda al fin nos ofrece todos los esmaltes de OPI a un buen precio y lo mejor de todo: te envían a toda la república!!! Yo les recomiendo que pidan varios para que el precio del envío no les impacte mucho. Ahora sí no hay pretexto para no tener los tonos más lindos y nuevos!.

 

Y bueno, después continué con No Place Like Chrome de Essie (plateado) aplique de una a dos capas dependiendo si me había quedado horrible la primera o no. Este es un esmalte difícil de aplicar!

Ya que secó, me ayudé de cinta mágica para formar los triángulos centrales y los bordes los hice a mano así que ya se imaginarán como quedaron mis cutículas! Tuve que limpiar más de lo normal.

 

Me encantó como quedo! Hice diferentes diseños en la mano derecha e izquierda y en verdad que no puedo escoger cuál mano me gustó más. Como habrán notado usé varios esmaltes con textura, ya sea que los llamen "Liquid Sand" (Arena Liquida) como OPI o "Pixie Dust" (Polvo de Hada) de Zoya yo estaba algo renuente a usarlos. En primera no podía hacerme a la idea de no usar topcoat. Amo el topcoat. Siento que ayuda mucho a que los errores de aplicación sean menos notorios y DEFINITIVAMENTE hace que el manicure dure más. Otra preocupación que tenía era que se sintieran demasiado rugosos, lo cual no pasó. Son bastante suaves y no dan ninguna sensación diferente a cuando usas un esmalte normal.

Tenía tanto miedo de que no me gustaran, que solo compré la versión "mini"!

 

Por hoy las dejo no se pierdan los demás looks que hicieron mis compañeras en el reto!
