Lullaby & corazones

Hola bellezas! ¿Recuerdan este bello glitter topper de Cirque? Aquí pueden ver el post donde lo presenté por primera vez. Me encanta lo suave y dulce que es. En esta ocasión lo apliqué sobre un blanco lechoso llamado Pur White de Maybelline Forever Strong Super Stay. Ese tipo de blancos traslucidos me son irresistibles, me parecen la cosa mas tierna, como una nubecita atrapada en la botella.... :)

El único problema que tengo con Lullaby es que me cuesta mucho tomarle una foto decente. Como sus glitters son satinados reflejan mucho la luz y se ven todos blancos! ¿Ya vieron como se la botella en la foto de arriba? :D

Aquí abajo les dejo una macro (muy mala y borrosa por cierto) de Lullaby.

En el dedo anular estampé con la placa VL009 de Vivid Lacquer y en el meñique son dos capas del número 51 de la línea Holiday (texturizado) de la marca turca Golden Rose. Este último esmalte (junto otros cuantos) me lo trajo mi queridísima amiga Diana del blog Peaches My Love que vive en España. Ella y yo somos amigas desde la primaria, ¡imagínense! 

Podría ser una propuesta para San Valentín que ya se acerca! :D

Mish Mash Challenge: Purple!

Hi ladies! Today is the first day of the Mish Mash Challenge by Kimber's Amazing Challenge Ladies! I was hesitant on whether to join or not because I have been on challenges ever since I started blogging and I surely need a break! I really like to complete and finish my challenges but I get a feeling that this time it won't be that way, and that's where my doubt came from...But then, this group is so relaxed...that why not? You know with us is perfectly okay to skip a few days in the challenge because we understand that life gets in the way a little too much! he he. Hola chicas! Hoy es el primer día del reto Mish Mash de Kimber's Amazing Challenge Ladies!...sí, es correcto me he unido a otro reto. Una vez mas. Y parece que este me mantendra ocupada por siempre! Termina hasta el proximo año!!!! O.o Demasiado? Sí! De hecho tenía mis dudas de si entrarle o no, a mí de verdad que me gusta ser cumplidita y terminar algo cuando lo empiezo pero presiento que con este reto no será así. Decidí unirme de cualquier modo porque este grupo de chicas es muy relajado y se aceptan las ausencias sin mayor problema, asi que...por qué no? Así que si te nos quieres unir, solo pídelo!

And so, the first challenge is Purple and I pulled out what I think is one of the prettiest purple polishes out there: OPI DS Temptation. 

Y entonces, el primer tema es Morado. Saqué uno de los morados más lindos en mi opinión: DS Temptation de OPI.

It's so sparkly and pretty...I'm kind of lost for words to describe it!

I won't lie to you, the formula on this baby is thick and hard to apply evenly. But it is opaque in three coats on its own, and with a base color like I did here, you're good with two. I recommend always wearing a base color when wearing it because otherwise it will look very thick and the tips will wear in no time!

But it's so pretty!!

Es tan brillante y lindo que no sé ni como describirlo!

Aunque no les mentiré, la fórmula deja mucho que desear. Es muy gruesa y espesa lo cual hace difícil aplicarla parejo, pero tiene buena cobertura. Con tres capas cubre bien si lo usas solo y si pones un color base como yo aquí, con dos capas es suficiente. Personalmente, yo sí recomiendo que uses un color base porque si no tiende a mostrar tip wear (desgaste en la punta) en cosa de un día.

Because it contains blue, green and gold micro glitters I did a ruffian manicure with Metal Me Teal! by Maybelline Forever Strong Pro to enhance the blue in it. I used to hate ruffian manis, I thought 'Who would want a mani that showcases the growth cap?' but this post by The Polished Perfectionist changed my mind and now I love'em!

Como contiene brillitos azules, verdes y dorados hice un manicure francés inverso o ruffian con Metal Me Teal! de Maybelline Forever Strong Pro, para resaltar esos destellos azules. Antes odiaba este tipo de manicure, me preguntaba a quién le gustaría esto que parece como si ya te hubiera crecido la uña? Pero este post de The Polished Perfectionist me hizo cambiar de opinión y aprendí que lo importante son los colores que escojas, porque hay unos colores con los que sí se ve muy mal. A mi gusto deben ser colores que no se parezcan a tu tono de piel.

Hello everybody! I hope all my american readers had a lot of fun and relaxation celebrating the 4th of July. I really, really wanted to post this yesterday but I didn't have time :(

You're probably sick of seeing patriotic manis all over the internet by now, but seeing so many pretty manis inspired by the american flag, made me want to do one! I believe the stars and overall design of the flag allow us to have fun playing with it, besides, it's the perfect excuse to wear Freedom by Pure Ice...that gorgeous glitter!!!

 

Hola chicas! El ver ayer tantos manis inspirados en la bandera americana me hizo querer hacer uno!. Creo que el diseño de esta bandera permite jugar con diferentes diseños y se ven muy lindos, no creen? Además de que este mani es la excusa perfecta para usar este glitter hermoso llamado Freedom de Pure Ice.

Esta marca llego hace unos meses a México exclusivamente a las tiendas Wal-Mart, pero en mi pueblo nada más no aparece!!! grrrr!!!! Yo me enteré gracias a Pam de The Nail Sensation y desde entonces los he estado esperando y nada. Así que tuve que ir a la Ciudad de México a conseguirlos! Les cuento que están baratos (veintitantos pesos) y tienen colores modernos y combinaciones de glitter increíbles. Yo me traje un montón!

Freedom contains blue and red glitter but also silver stars!! It's so cute! I want to layer it over so many colors! All of the polishes behaved properly and applied like butter ;)

The white stars, I bought them at a stand on a street market years ago, so I don't know where they can be found.:(

 

Freedom contiene glitter rojo y azul pero también estrellas plateadas!! Esta super lindo! Ya quiero combinarlo con mas colores! Todos los esmaltes que use se aplicaron fácilmente.

Las estrellitas blancas las compre hace años en un mercadito callejero así que no se donde se puedan conseguir. :(

Hello everybody! How's your sunday going? I know there are all sorts of Christmas manis going on out there but I wasn't inspired to do one this time.

 

I did this mani yesterday, it's not quite what I had in mind but I guess it's ok. I started off with one coat of OPI Nail Envy, then two coats of China Glaze's Spontaneous (which is such a perfect creamy purple!) and my original idea was to stamp it with OPI's DS Temptation but that definitely didn't work out. Although DS Temptation is a very opaque glitter it doesn't work for stamping I don't know what I was thinking!... So I reached for Metal Me Teal! by Maybelline Forever Strong Pro.

 

I used Mash-40 nail plate for the stamping and since I couldn't stamp with DS Temptation, I used it to do a few polka dots and add a bit of sparkle. Finished up with a coat of Seche Vite and voilà!

 

Hola a todas!!! Mmm...como que estos ultimos días no me he sentido inspirada para hacer diseños navideños... :). Así que les presentaré esto que hice ayer, no quedo exactamente como yo quería pero creo q es lindo.

 

Inicié con una capa de Nail Envy de OPI. Yo había leido toda clase de buenas referencias de esta basecoat pero no esperaba que en verdad funcionara, ya había probado bastantes esmaltes que prometían hacer tus uñas más fuertes y solo Uña Maravilla ( el verdecito que venden en Nutrisa) me funcionó un tiempo (pero apesta a ajo de una maneeraaa!!! eeewww!). Pero Nail Envy me ha funcionado super bien ya ni siquiera se me ponen amarillas las uñas! Antes tenía que descansar unos días del esmalte porque si no se "amarilleaban" pero ahora nooo!! es lo maximo!

 

Bueno. Regresando a mi manicure...aplique dos capas de Spontaneous de China Glaze e hice stamping con la placa Mash-40 y Metal Me Teal! de Maybelline Forever Strong Pro.

 

Originalmente quería hacer el stamping con DS Temptation un herrrrrmosisisisisimo glitter de OPI que tiene muy buena cobertura y debido a eso por un momento pensé que pudiera funcionar para el stamping pero nooo...buu :(

Así que como yo quería utilizar esta belleza al menos la use para hacer unos polka dots!

RETO DE 31 DÍAS Día 19: GALAXY NAILS! Nueva tecnica para quitar esmalte con glitter incluida!!!

Hello sweeties!! Galaxy nails are definitely one of my favorite ones. It is so much fun to try to re-create the beauty of the universe! My version of them this time looks more like a night sky, but they are beautiful to me! Funny that the topic today is galaxy nails and I will be catching a plane in a couple hours! (so this is a scheduled post, you caught me!!)

 

I took this chance to try the PVA glue basecoat technique. It worked out fine, but it still weirds me out! I guess I just have to try it again. If you haven't read about it you can do it here. It was hard to capture all the glitter on camera, but in person these galaxy nails shined like crazy! =^.^=

 

ESPAÑOL!

 

Buen día chicas! Hoy el tema son las galaxias en las uñas. Me parece muy divertido tratar de imitar la belleza del espacio....aaaahhhh!!! (suspiro) ;P

Como iba a usar mucho glitter aproveche para probar esta técnica nueva que descubrieron las chicas australianas: usar pegamento blanco como basecoat...que tal? Se supone que hace más facil quitar el esmalte de brillos o glitter, si los has usado, sabes de lo que estoy hablando. Se ven increíbles pero quitarlos en una tortura!! Con esta técnica se facilita mucho.

 

Lo primero es el pegamento, yo use el de la foto, que es SUPER conocido en México. Con un pincel aplica una capa (yo recomiendo que sea algo gruesa) de pegamento, con cuidado de que no toque la piel porque eso haría que no te dure mucho tu esmalte. Si accidentalmente se extiende el pegamento a la piel limpialo antes de que seque, debe quedar solo en la uña. Tarda en secar,como 5 minutos o un poco más, sabrás cuando se seque porque se volverá transparente.

 

 

Ya que seque estas lista para aplicar tu esmalte de glitter preferido. Y cuando lo quieras retirar lo puedes hacer con tus propias uñas o con ayuda de un palillo. A mi me quedaron rastros de esmalte en las orillas que removí con quitaesmalte.

Puedo decir que el pegamento sobrevive al agua o sea que sí se puede usar bien esta técnica en el día a día y sin peligro porque el pegamento no es tóxico.

Definitivamente si es fácil de quitar el glitter con esta técnica pero no sé, no me hago a la idea de ponerme pegamento!... se me hace raro! Quizá debo hacerlo de nuevo...me recuerda mucho a unos esmaltes que sacó Lancôme hace varios años ya...(ahem, ahem, revelé mi edad? jaja!!) que se quitaban así, arrancándolos.

Base: Midnight Blue 650- Maybelline Forever Strong PRO

Glitter: 1150 Blue Cosmos- Lady Olé

Estrellas: 360- Bissú

Glitter Holográfico: 551 Fairy Dust- China Glaze

31 DAY CHALLENGE Day 5: BLUE NAILS/ UÑAS AZULES

Blue is without a doubt one of the most beautiful colors. Who doesn't love it? It was so hard to choose a shade of blue for the challenge when they are all so incredibly breathtaking!

Since I couldn't decide I used 4 of them. I chose to do a gradient...and I loved it! :) Watch:

 

 

For those of you who don't know how to do this I will explain how I achieved this look.

 

1. First, apply your basecoat and your base color. The base color I chose was Azul from Renova Manicure Francés -this is a mexican brand- which is the lightest shade of blue. Wait for it to dry completely because you're going to press a sponge onto them!

From left to right:  Instant Artificials-Salon Sciences, Azul- Renova Manicure Francés, Minted- Revlon, 165- Bissú, Midnight Blue- Maybelline Forever Strong PRO, Clearly Quick -Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

 

 

2. To do the gradient you will be needing a make-up sponge. Dampen it and then apply a line of the darkest color on the sponge and continue down until you have completed your gradient. A little tip: you should have your bottles open cause you should paint the sponge fast so the polishes don't dry before you can put the sponge on your nails.

 

3. The trick to the gradient is that you shouldn't be able to see the lines of the brush when the color changes, and I find it hard to blend the colors in the nail, so to do it a little bit better I dabbed the sponge on a sheet of paper and bounced it moving it up and down so that the lines dissapear and then fastly move to your nails and do the same thing! I did this twice on each nail.

 

 

 

4. When you're done with the sponge you'll probably think that it looks a little rough but two coats of topcoat will fix that! I also added a tiny flower sticker to do an accent nail on my ring fingers.

 

5. Finally, just clean the polish that (inevitably) ended up on your skin and voilà!

 

 

This is only the second time I've ever done a gradient so you know, I'm happy with the result although it can be improved...I'm excited to do a lot more in the future, like they say "practice makes perfect"...
